Nate is Great

AUTHOR: Lisa Poncia POSTED: Sep 4, 2013

Step into our booth at the Sunday Civic Center Farmers' Market in San Rafael and you'll likely meet Nate Christo, our booth manager extraordinaire. For the past year and a half he has manned our tent, greeting customers with his affable smile and helping them select the perfect cuts of meat for their needs. He's a natural people person, and that shines through in all he does.

A native of Davis, California, Nate grew up in rural surroundings where big gardens were commonplace. From the start, he loved being outdoors and soaked up all he could learn about growing food. Now married nearly a decade to his wife Robyn, he spends his weekdays as a telecommunications fraud investigator for the California Public Utilities Commission. In his "spare" time, he can often be found tending the family veggie garden in their back yard while attempting to wrangle their three young children (twin boys Max & Sam, age 2 1/2, and daughter Lola, age 6).

So why work Sundays at the Farmers' Market? "Because I really enjoy talking to the customers," he says, noting the loyal following of people who return to the booth week after week. "It's fun to be here because people love the product and are happy to support what Loren & Lisa are doing at Stemple Creek Ranch."

Nate also enjoys introducing customers to new cuts of meat they may not have tried—like “spider" or "velvet" steak--and offering up cooking tips and recipe ideas. "Our meat is super tasty," he smiles. "Once people taste the difference, they come back."
